If you’ve opened Meta Business Suite recently and felt slightly lost, you’re not imagining things. What was previously known as Business Manager is now part of Meta’s current Business Portfolio system, and the settings panel has grown into a detailed control centre that manages everything from user access and business assets to domains, integrations, and security settings. Once you understand what each section does, the entire system becomes much easier to navigate. Here’s a walkthrough of every section inside Business Portfolio Settings and what each one is used for.
1. Business Info
This is where your Business portfolio’s identity information is managed. Depending on your location, account type, and verification requirements, Meta may ask for details such as your business name, address, website, and tax information. This section also displays important business details and your Business Portfolio ID, which Meta support may request when helping resolve account-related issues. Keeping these details accurate is important because some verification and account processes rely on this information.
2. Users
This section controls who has access to your Business Portfolio and how they can interact with your business assets. Access is divided into three main groups:
- People: Individual teammates who work directly with your business. Each person can be assigned different permissions depending on their role.
- Partners: External businesses, agencies, freelancers, or vendors that need access to specific assets without being added as internal team members.
- System Users: Non-person accounts mainly used for API integrations, automated tools, and software connections. They allow technical systems to access specific business assets through approved permissions.
3. Accounts
This section contains the main business accounts connected to your Business portfolio. It works as an asset inventory where you can manage different Meta accounts and resources.
- Pages: Facebook Pages connected to your business.
- Ad Accounts: Advertising accounts used to create and manage paid campaigns.
- Business Asset Groups: A way to organise related assets together and assign permissions to multiple assets at once. They are mainly useful for businesses managing multiple brands, clients, or large numbers of Pages, ad accounts, and other resources.
- Apps: Applications connected to your business for integrations, permissions, and developer-related features.
- Instagram Accounts: Instagram profiles connected to your Business Portfolio for management and advertising activities.
- WhatsApp Accounts: WhatsApp Business accounts connected for messaging, customer communication, and other business services.
- Threads Accounts: Threads profiles connected with your Business Portfolio for management and advertising-related activities where supported.
4. Data Sources
This section contains the data sources Meta uses for measurement, audience building, and ad optimisation. These tools help businesses understand customer actions, track conversions, and improve advertising performance.
- Catalogs: Product collections containing information such as items, images, prices, and details used for shopping experiences, dynamic ads, and commerce features.
- Datasets and Pixels: Tools that collect website activity and conversion signals to help businesses measure results, understand customer behaviour, and optimise advertising campaigns.
- Offline Event Sets: Customer actions that happen outside websites or apps, such as in-store purchases or sales data uploaded manually.
- Customer Conversions: Allow businesses to upload conversion information from their own systems to help Meta measure campaign performance and improve optimisation.
- Shared Audiences: Audience groups that can be shared and reused across eligible business assets.
- Business Creative Folders: Shared storage areas where teams can organise and manage creative assets used in campaigns.
5. Requests
This section manages incoming and outgoing access requests. If you request access to another business’s Page or ad account, it appears here. Similarly, requests from other businesses asking for access to your assets can be reviewed and approved from this section.
6. Brand Safety and Suitability
This section helps businesses control where their content and advertisements can appear across Meta’s advertising ecosystem.
- Domains: Used to add and verify domains officially associated with your business.
- Publisher Block Lists: Allows advertisers to block specific publishers or placements where they do not want their ads to appear, especially for certain Audience Network or video placements.
7. Integrations
This section manages connections between your Business Portfolio and external tools or Meta-related services.
- Connect Apps: Allows businesses to connect third-party applications and services.
- Leads Access: Controls who can access and manage information collected through lead ads.
- Conversation Routing: Helps direct incoming messages from channels such as Messenger and Instagram to the appropriate people or tools.
- Ads MCP Server: A newer integration feature designed to allow compatible AI tools to interact with Meta advertising workflows through the Model Context Protocol. Availability and supported capabilities may vary depending on account access and Meta’s rollout.
8. Billing and Payments
This section manages payment methods, billing information, invoices, and payment activity connected to your advertising accounts.
9. Meta Verified
This section manages Meta’s paid verification subscription features for eligible accounts. It is separate from business verification, which may be required for certain advertising features, regulated industries, or account permissions.
10. News Pages
This section is mainly relevant for publishers and manages settings related to Pages participating in Meta’s news and journalism-related programs.
11. Partnership Ads Hub
This section is used for managing creator-brand partnership advertising permissions and collaborations. It helps businesses run partnership ads using approved creator relationships.
12. Security Centre
This section provides security controls and visibility into account protection settings, including login security, two-factor authentication requirements, and suspicious activity alerts. Enabling stronger security measures helps protect business assets and advertising accounts.
13. Notifications
This section controls the alerts you and your team members receive, including notifications related to account activity, policy issues, billing updates, and access requests.
14. Setup Guide
Setup Guide provides recommended steps and checklists to help businesses complete important configuration tasks when setting up or managing a Business Portfolio.
15. Business Assets
Business Assets provides a central view of the assets connected to your Business portfolio. It helps you review your overall asset structure and understand what Pages, ad accounts, accounts, and other resources are connected to your business.
16. Authorizations and Verifications
This section manages verification-related requirements and additional authorizations that may apply to certain businesses, advertising categories, or features. Meta may request additional information or approvals depending on your business activities.
17. Ad Account Settings
Ad Account Settings contains account-level preferences that apply to individual ad accounts within your Business portfolio. These settings may include account information, currency, time zone, permissions, and other advertising configuration options.
18. Language Settings
This section controls the display language used across your Business Portfolio interface.
19. Conclusion
The transition from Business Manager to Business Portfolio reflects Meta’s effort to separate asset ownership and access management from everyday business activities. Business Portfolio focuses on controlling ownership, permissions, and connected assets, while Meta Business Suite is designed more for daily tasks such as publishing content, managing messages, and viewing insights. Meta continues to bring Business Portfolio management features into both Business Suite and Ads Manager, allowing many asset-related tasks to be completed without switching between separate platforms.
Business Asset Groups are mainly designed for businesses managing multiple brands, clients, or large numbers of assets. Smaller businesses with fewer assets may not need them immediately, but they become useful as the organisation and number of connected assets grow.
If you’re setting up a Business portfolio for the first time, the practical order to work through is: Business Info, then Users, then Accounts, then Data Sources. The remaining sections can be configured as your business needs them.
